A Dream of a December
December is always a special month for me. I love all the things that are involved in the Festive Season although, I must admit, after spending several years in the Northern Hemisphere, Christmas in the middle of Summer has never really been the same. But the other reason I like December is because it’s my birthday month. This December my family and I took a road trip up to Coral Bay and Ningaloo Reef. We had an extraordinary time. We all love road trips so we had lots of fun driving up and back. Being able to snorkel with majestic manta rays was incredible beyond words. It was such a treat to be able to walk off the beach and drift along in the current gazing at amazing coral structures and a myriad of reef fish. Floating above sharks while they took turns being spruced up at a cleaning station was magical. We also took a quick trip out to a little town called Hyden that is home to the iconic Wave Rock as well as a lace museum. Wave Rock was astounding but, for me, the best part of the trip was swimming in their salt lake. I’ve never been able to float in the ocean but in this lake I bobbed around like a cork. It was a wonderful experience. And to top it all off, we had a close friend come to stay who we haven’t seen for several years. December, for me, was a month chock full of delicious experiences I’ll continue to savor for many, many months. I hope your December was a wonderful time as well. Do you have some highlights you’ll enjoy revisiting over the coming months?
